Dan Dankner is the Chief Executive Officer of Arison Investments since 2009. Arison Investments, part of the Arison Group, is a leading global investment company.
Drawing upon more than two decades of extensive experience with some of Israel's top corporations in the fields of finance, capital markets and industry, Dankner deploys his exceptional market sense and team leadership skills to locate and maximize business opportunities that promise substantial yields for the company in Israel and throughout the world. A consummate manager of large-scale systems, he ensures that Arison Investments implements and fulfills its operational and strategic goals.
Dankner sits on the board of directors of Bank Hapoalim Switzerland, a subsidiary of Bank Hapoalim, Israel's foremost bank; Shikun & Binui, Israel's leading real estate and infrastructure group; Miya, a global company that works to improve urban water efficiency; and Israel Salt Industries, the country's largest salt manufacturer.
Until 2009, Dankner served as Executive Chairman of the Board of Bank Hapoalim and prior to that, as Vice Chairman of the bank's board. Endowed with wide expertise in conducting complex negotiations, he led Bank Hapoalim's multibillion-dollar transactions over the past decade, including the sale and acquisition of several banks and the successful sale of the bank's mutual and provident funds.
In addition, Dankner served as Executive Chairman of the Board of Isracard, Israel's largest credit card issuer and a subsidiary of Bank Hapoalim; as Executive Chairman of the Board of Poalim Capital Markets, the bank's investment banking arm; and as Executive Chairman of the Board of Poalim Express, franchiser of American Express. Under his leadership, these companies moved ahead significantly in terms of activity volume, market share and profits. He served as CEO of Israel Salt Industries when, in addition to its industrial activity, the company was a member of the shareholder consortium that controlled Bank Hapoalim.
In all of his positions, Dankner works to advance the Arison Investments vision of combining high financial returns with the core values of sustainability.
Among his many public service activities, Dankner is the Chairman of Beterem - The National Center for Children's Health and Safety. He was also Chairman of the Poalim in the Community Foundation, the bank's fund for contributing to organizations helping those in need. In addition, he served as President of the Association of Banks in Israel.
Dankner holds a bachelor's degree in Business and Economics from the University of Massachusetts.
