Non Revenue Water Loss Reduction Project

Consolidated Water (Bahamas) Ltd (CWBL) contracted to build and operate the Blue Hills Road Reverse Osmosis Plant . As a part of this contract, CWBL was required to reduce the average daily Non-Revenue Water (NRW) in the New Providence distribution system by 1 MIG per day.

 

NRW Reduction Strategy

The NRW reduction strategy developed to achieve the required reduction entailed a combination of:

  • Pump control and surge protection
  • Pressure management
  • District metering
  • Leak detection and repair
  • Large revenue meter improvement
  • Monitoring and Control

 

Project Challenges

  • Areas of fragile infrastructure
  • Low system pressures - average 28.8 PSI
  • Very high break rates - particularly service connections
  • New Hydro Tower - Pressure increase of 26 PSI
  • WSC level of service improvements, new customers
  • Early achievement of target
