Consolidated Water (Bahamas) Ltd (CWBL) contracted to build and operate the Blue Hills Road Reverse Osmosis Plant . As a part of this contract, CWBL was required to reduce the average daily Non-Revenue Water (NRW) in the New Providence distribution system by 1 MIG per day.
NRW Reduction Strategy
The NRW reduction strategy developed to achieve the required reduction entailed a combination of:
- Pump control and surge protection
- Pressure management
- District metering
- Leak detection and repair
- Large revenue meter improvement
- Monitoring and Control
Project Challenges

- Low system pressures - average 28.8 PSI
- Very high break rates - particularly service connections
- New Hydro Tower - Pressure increase of 26 PSI
